The winds and rain came and went in the Yarra Valley today but its beautiful here, whatever the weather and quite stunning at Tarawarra Museum of Art.
A chilly day in the Yarra Valley
It was a perfect day for cheese and wine tasting this weekend, cold windy and raining outside, (snowing on Mt Donna Buang) warm and inviting inside. What better time to have a look at the new cheese tasting opportunity at Morgans Estate. I decided on the five wines and matching cheese platter for just $15.00. What a treat! The Warburton Highway certainly has something to crow about here.

A trip down the Great Ocean Road is always special whatever the weather but today it was almost perfect. My guests from Singapore (an Indian couple with their 2 year old child) were amazed at the rugged coastline, the picturesque towns and clear blue skies. We stopped for lunch at Apollo Bay where I bought a new tour guide hat (what do you think)? before returning home to the bright lights of Melbourne. Its a long day, 9 hours in all, but most rewarding for those who have the time.

I received a call from a lovely elderly gentleman who wanted to revisit some of the spots he remembered as a younger man. First up was the lookout at Mount Donna Buang (before the snow arrived) then down the mountain to the treetop walk before visiting the amazing Red Wood Forest. Its always a pleasure to help people remember happy times and there are lots of those around this region.

My guests from the USA enjoyed a lovely day touring the Yarra Valley, visiting Oakridge Estate, Pimpernel and then on to Four Pillars Gin. After that they were keen for a coffee and a snack and I know all the best spots in Healesville so it was easy to fulfil that request! They loved their visit and assure me they will return and venture further afield next time.
